Are We Ready for Another??

April 29, 2008 By Serena 2 Comments

In recent months Kwasi and I (mostly me!) grappled with the idea of buying a new house. Well, not new but another home. Face it–market conditions are great–low rates, plenty of anxious people ready to unload homes they bought when the market was at its peak (and probably couldn’t even afford). In all the homebuying research I’ve done, I’ve seen numerous deals out there. Single-family homes that were once out of our reach are now supposed to be “more affordable.”

But at what cost??

Selling our condo right now would mean:

1. Our mortgage payment would more than double,

2. We would not be able to afford to have another child until much later (who can afford 2 in daycare?!)

3. We’d need Ambien just to get sleep because we’d be worrying about how to pay the mortgage and bills!!

So, financially, to answer my question, if we stay in our 2-BR condo, then YES, we are ready for another one.

Emotionally are we ready??

I just don’t know. The more I think about it, the more I am OK if we only had Kwabena. We’re having so much fun right now. Having another baby means having to divert my motherly attention from Kwabena to another child. And the way he loves his Mommy, I’m doubtful he’d stand for that. LOL (At least, not right now!)

Plus, I am just now starting to get my “sexy back” 🙂 After gaining 60 pounds and not being able to shop in regular clothing stores (it took nearly a year of running stairs to drop that weight!!), I’m not quite ready to jump back into those maternity clothes just yet…..

However, if we want to keep Kwabi close in age to his sibling, then we better get ta’ BD’ing! (i.e. “baby dancing” for those of you that have no idea the secret language of parenting blogs, lol.) Perhaps Fall 2008??

We shall see… We’ll keep you posted!

I agree. Leaving them to go back to work is hard. That’s why I would like to stay in our condo, so that we could have the option for me to work part-time if we want to!
