Today is my 29th birthday. What a way to start the day than with a sincere compliment. I arrived to work this morning and a woman at my job said, “I know you’ve been working really hard [exercising], and I just wanted to tell you that you’re really looking good.” God bless her! Thank you for noticing!Yes, I gained 60 pounds while pregnant with Kwabena. And although I’m so thankful that he was healthy and normal, I soooo wish that I hadn’t pigged out on Krispy Kreme donuts! I wish that I had better monitored my weight during pregnancy so that I didn’t have to work so hard right now. The bright side is that at least I am doing something great for my heart and lungs. I jog about 2.5 miles during lunch. When the weather is not permitting, I do stairs: up….down…up…down…up…down….for about 30 minutes. What a workout! So even though I am having to work 10 times harder than some women that only gained the appropriate amount of weight (and lost it all so easily), I would like to think that my exercising is increasing my endurance and extending my life so that I’ve got more time with Kwabena.Even though my birthday is non-eventful, I am thankful for the dinner that Kwasi prepared this evening…thankful for our little boy…and thankful for another year.364 days until the big 3-0!
