Tonight I went to a party for our Vice President, who’s last day is tomorrow. At the last minute, I wasn’t going, because I wanted to get home to see Kwabena. But I decided that Mommy deserves a little socializing. Besides, Kwasi is more than capable and willing to take care of Kwabena tonight. When he and Kwabena got home, Kwasi said that he fed Kwabena some cereal… gave him a bath… fed him a bottle… and then put him to bed.My way of putting Kwabena to bed is sooo different than Kwasi’s way of putting him to bed! My way involved lots of holding and rocking until drowsy…. and Kwasi’s way involves simply putting him down in the crib while WIDE awake and no pacifer!Surprisingly, Kwabena didn’t cry or fuss when put into his crib without his usual sleep aids. It just goes to show you that our kids are tougher than we realize. When I got home, Kwabena was knocked out in his crib, lying on his belly. I gave him a “dream feed” at 11:30 p.m. (i.e. feeding your baby while he’s sleeping; it’s amazing how instinctual it is for your child to open his mouth and eat without even realizing they are doing so). I’m grateful that Kwasi is so understanding and willing and able to take care of Kwabena, allowing me to get in a little socializing. He’s such a good dad. 🙂
