Happy Birthday, Ohene!!!!

December 16, 2011 By Serena Leave a Comment

My middle baby turned 2 years old today!!! It seriously doesn’t seem possible that Ohene turned 2. Time really flew by. It was a good day, though. I felt really bad for letting him go to daycare today, because, after all, it’s his birthday, so I felt I SHOULD have kept him home and did something special with him. But I couldn’t think of anything special to do with him (pathetic, I know), because I hadn’t planned anything, and plus, Kwabena was in school, and everything I could have possibly considered to do with Ohene are things that I really wanted to have Kwabena there with him. SOOOOO….I sent him to Miss Marilyn’s. And while he was gone, I went to Target and got some balloons and other snacks, and was ready to surprise him when he came home.

I bought him a Super Soaker. Yes, a Super Soaker. A gun. A water shooter. Really, I never would have done that for Kwabena at age 2. We were always to cognizant of using the word gun, PERIOD, so to think of doing that for Ohene, well, all I can say is that you are just more lax with #2. Besides, 1) they already have two Super Soaker type water shooters, and both are too big for Ohene to handle, even though he loves playing with them, and 2) they already play shooter stuff with each other with things around the house that LOOK like shooters, so why not?, and 3) when I took them to Target yesterday to get some idea of what to buy Ohene, based on what he liked, a gun is the first thing he picked up and tried to put in the cart. LOL A football was the second (even though he already has a football). My kids don’t play with toys much, except for Legos. They usually end up using everyday objects for toys. So, there’s no way I am wasting money on cars or trains or any of those other toys they already have but just ignore here at the house.

So, a water shooter it was.

Anyhow, when Ohene came home, I had balloons on the wall in the dining room, with some store-bought box cake, which ended up turning out HORRIBLE because I used too much applesauce to substitute the eggs; presents wrapped, and some snacks on the table. Kwabena liked playing with the punch balloons. I think those were the best presents of all, as much as they played with them!!! 🙂

So, it was a good evening, with just us. Kwasi’s mom was over here during the day, but didn’t come to the little party, because she can’t drive at night (she can’t see well at night). It was just us! It just makes me realize that we really don’t have anyone but our own little family.

Oh, before I forget, can I just say how freakin’ cute Kojo looked in his birthday hat?????!!!! So sweet!

I will post pics, but this blogger version is always so tough to post pictures on. I can only upload 5 at a time. The newer version of blogger allows multiple, fast uploads at a time. I think I may be switching blog sites very soon.

Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my beautiful, handsome Ohene Kwasi Appiah!!!!
