Kojo is Walking!!!

September 19, 2012 By Serena Leave a Comment

Oh, wow…..so I tried to login to Blogger while here at work, and they had BLOCKED it! I guess “online communities” are a no-no now….Anyhow, I think the loophole is logging in from the website versus going to Blogger.com. Anyhow……

Kojo is walking!!!!!!!!

My little man is seriously walking now, like, everywhere. He still flops down on his butt, but OH MY, it’s the cutest thing seeing him barreling over to me like a drunken little guy. So cute!

Ohene is doing well, too. He is soooo funny, that kid! This weekend he said to Kwabena while we were in the car, “Kwabena, when we get home, I’m going to kick you in the fact!” Now, granted, it’s not appropriate. And he’s full of shit, really 🙂 But it was pretty funny (of course, I don’t let him see me laugh at those things, but still….). He’s really quite a character.

Last night I was attempting to stay on course with a schedule I set, especially to get them in bed by 8 p.m. (I was a few minutes shy of success). Anyhow, I played a bit of Legos with them on the living room floor until 7:30-ish rolled around, and then we went to get jammies on. While changing, Ohene said, “Mommy, I wuv you. I like when you play Legos with me.” Awwww….sweet baby. I really must do better about playing with them more. I get so consumed with trying to get this house cleaning done, that task done, etc., and I end up missing the special moments to play with the boys. Last night Kwabena wanted me to play something like Battle Bots, where he and Ohene go around with little Lego things and pretend to battle. I told Kwabena I was NOT playing that. LOL. How boring! Go get the Legos and we’ll play that. And we did 🙂

Kojo was the funniest little thing last night while playing Legos. First of all, he’s still in that phase where everything goes in the mouth. So he was sitting there on his feet, hands all in the Legos, all serious in grabbing the Legos, inspecting them for eating, LOL, and then trying to shove some of them in his mouth. Me and Kwabena were laughing at him, the way he was grabbing those Legos and trying to grab them. It’s like he was trying to be a big boy and imitate how his brothers were reaching in, sifting through them for just the right piece. LOL

Kwabena is doing well. He is having pretty good behavior at school, which is awesome. The Back to School night was recently and the teachers were stressing the importance of writing and how that’s important, no matter how advanced of a reader they are. So that is what I am trying to work with him on, although I should probably work with him more than I do. The other night it took FOREVER to get his writing assignment done! UGH! He’s very slow with it. Gotta work on that.

Recently we also went to the Outdoor Movie at his school, and that was fun for the kids to run around the dark playground. I rant into his reading teacher, Mrs. Zarchin, and she surprised me when she said that Kwabena is soooo smart, and probably one of the smartest kids in 1st grade! She said he comes right in, sits down to do his work, and when he looses focus, she’s able to tell him to get back to work, and he listens. I’m very impressed and happy about that. 🙂

Kwasi is doing okay. He’s doing a leadership program right now through his job, which I think is pretty awesome just from looking over his first assignment. They have to take the 10 buckets of their life (e.g. Family, Money, Health, etc.) and describe the “actual” and the “ideal” and what they would have to do to bridge the gap. I think that’s a great activity and I’m interested in that myself!

Hmm….let’s see what’s going on with me:

  1. I’m still doing my Thrift Diving! I actually am trying to clear off space in my computer’s hard drive, so that I can use this new software in order to run my Mac and Windows simultaneously. I use a software now that slows my computer tremedously, and it’s just not efficient to use it. I want to use the other software, but to do so, I need to clear up enough space on my HD. So I have been spending each night trying to move pictures from my HD to the external HD, and that’s been slow-doing. I have to make sure I don’t delete things that shouldn’t be deleted.
  2. I’m feeling pressed for time. Mom is feeling it, too. I just called her last night and she was bitching about how there’s “no time for anything” after she gets home from work. We didn’t talk long. She called back this morning, feeling guilty because she hadn’t wanted to talk, and we discussed how there really isn’t any time. I mean, you get up and get READY for work….DRIVE to work….spend all day AT work….drive HOME from work….fix dinner….play with kids (my schedule)……etc. etc. And next thing you know, it’s 8:30 p.m. and you have to get ready for the following day. That is exactly why I stay up so late, like 1 a.m. a lot of the times, because I feel like there’s no ME time. I need time for my blogging, for my creativity, for my desire to do my own thing. I’m learning it’s about SACRIFICE: in order to this THIS, you have to forego THAT. Simple enough. And I think we’ll all just be a little bit more happy if we can just accept that there will be sacrifices needed in order to fit in your own thing.
  3. I’m on Weight Watchers! I’m 170 lbs, and trying to get back to my normal, sexy 155-ish. It’s going well so far; I’m only in Week 2. I think I’ve lost 1-2 lbs. I wore my hair straight for the last week or so, and that’s prevented me from working out, but now I’m about to be BACK IN FULL SWING. Ready to get sexy again, especially for HAWAII!

Ta-ta!
