Kojo’s Getting a Tooth!

May 11, 2012 By Serena Leave a Comment

It’s hard to believe, but my baby is getting a tooth already!! Kwasi noticed it last week sometime, but I thought he was just noticing the outline in the front of the tooth area, but nope–it was actually a tooth coming in! I didn’t notice it until this weekend when we went to a friend’s son’s birthday party and I was sitting there talking to a woman and she mentioned that her son (just a few weeks older) was cutting teeth. When I looked in Kojo’s mouth, sure enough, there was the edge of the white tooth popping up!!

I remember Kwabena was 7 months when his first tooth started coming in. I was actually at the airport in Denver, flying in to my Mom’s group meetup, and yep, same thing, just happened to be talking about teeth, and I checked, and he had them!

Now, with Ohene…..Bad Mommy, but I don’t remember how old he was when his came in, or how I even first noticed. 🙁 That’s awful, huh? I sure hope I posted it here to remember!!!

Kojo’s not crawling yet, although he can scoot himself forward. Kwabena and Ohene were both crawling at this age. Funny to see how siblings grow at different stages!

Ohene is doing well, although he’s my little “spicy” baby. He whines much more than Kwabena did, and he’s got ATTITUDE like you wouldn’t believe! It’s cute at 2, but we don’t let him know it’s cute (because it will NOT be cute at age 5!). He’s currently potty training and has been doing well some days (usually on the weekends when I give him naked butt time). Other days, he takes to peeing on the floor and then telling me afterwards.

Last week, I about laughed my ass off when he came downstairs and excitedly told me that he pooped in his room. Uh, oh, what was I going to find? When I walked up to his room with me, there sat a pile of hard poop on top of his white toy truck. HAHAHAHA! It wasn’t intentional! I think it just happened to land there! It was too funny I had to take a pic of it to show Kwasi. HAHAHA. Gross, huh? LOL. When I showed the pic to Kwabena, he bust out laughing, “Bwhaaaaaa”! Hilarious…Adventures in potty training.

Kwabena is doing well. Not as many Oops notes from the teachers. I’ve been trying to use positive reinforcement by giving him stickers for days when he comes home with no Oops note, so that if he saves up 18 stickers, he can get a pet fish. I think he’s close! Last Friday he came home with a note for a drawing he did (I’ll have to post pics of it later). He basically wrote things, drew a picture in art, with things like, “Yo Butt!” and “What’s up yo!” And his buddy Ryan wrote “Bobbys” on the back (for “boobies”). LOL.  I had to reinfornce to him that you canNOT write that kind of stuff at school; it’s not appropriate, etc. etc. But I was a little proud of him for using exclamation marks! (of course, I didn’t tell him that, but I was, though!).

When I showed Kwasi’s brother, Kofi, he said to me privately, “Tell Kwabena’s teacher to ‘suck it!'” Um, yeah, okay. LOL. I guess he didn’t think it was that big of a deal. LOL

Other than that, Kwabena is doing well. He has his trouble with following directions, and wants to do with he wants to do, of course, which isn’t good. But, he’s doing well academically. And if we could just work on those behavioral skills, he’s be soooo at the top of his class!

He’s been participating in this Cool Cats Club guidance counseling group at school, and honestly, I don’t think he even needed it, but I figured there might be some behavioral things he could learn in that class, about interacting with others and what not. So, why not? But I just don’t want him to be labeled, which I am sure they’re doing….Anyhow….

Kwasi is doing well. Nothing new with him! Or with me, really. Just doing the Thrift Diving thing (my DIY thrifting and home improvement blog), which I really enjoy! I spend a lot of time networking on Twitter and such, and I have met some cool people and sites that I can network with! It takes up a lot of time, but it’s so interesting to me that it doesn’t feel like work or a burden. I wish I could quit my day-job and become a full-time DIY thrift diving blogger! 🙂 One day soon….I have big plans for it…..

Sorry for no pics! I’m at work typing this, and it’s hell using Blogger on this computer. More pics later!
