So my glucose is normal…..but apparently my iron levels are not. Lab tests came back that I am slightly anemic. Unfortunatley, I forgot to get from the nurse what levels they were, but whatever they are, I know it’s the cause of the extreme fatigue that I have been feeling.
This weekend was the worse. I had felt tired before, but this was fatigue; this feeling of just needing to lay down, to not exert too much energy. Just standing up I would feel light-headed and need to steady myself while the blood rushed back to my head. Just reaching up to do something with my arms made me feel exhausted. Yesterday I did think, “Hmmm, I wonder if I am anemic?” but didn’t think anything of it. I actually forgot all about that explanation.
Yesterday I even took a nap during the day (very unusual), as I am not a napper; I’ve got too much other stuff going on to spend time sleeping (as if). LOL But yesterday when Kwabena asked to watch Cars Movie on my laptop, I didn’t fight him on it. I simply laid down on the bed and took what I think was a 30 minute nap. *yawn*
Okay, yes, I am a vegetarian, but apparently, not a very healthy one if my iron levels are low. LOL. I admit that I’ve been doing a shitty job of eating leafy spinach (although I did buy some the other day!! Do I get credit for that?), beans, and other vegetarian sources of iron (e.g. blackstrap molasses, Cream of Wheat, etc.).
Now that I know the source of my occasional fatigue, let’s do something about it.
