I don’t get people that spent $20+ on Halloween costumes for their kids. Just seems like a waste of money if they can only wear it 1 day out of 364 days of the year. I choose to be ultra-thrifty when it comes to stuff like that. Kwabena had wanted to be Doctor Octopus, from Spiderman, but I didn’t have enough materials to come up with that, so he decided to be “skull and bones” as he calls it.
Pretty easy enough.
Basic black shirt………black sweat pants…….black skully “skull” cap………….paper cut-outs of skulls and bones……….sewn right onto the clothes………only later to be removed for a fully-functioning shirt and pants he can wear for the next year or more.
And he still looked cute! 😉
We actually didn’t do any trick-or-treating, since we were headed to Hagerstown for the annual parade, which took place on Halloween, which meant we missed all the trick-or-treating here in Silver Spring. No problem, though, because Kwabena seriously is a sugar-head–can’t trust him around candy. The less we have, the better. Definitely next year, though.
We enjoyed the parade and spending time with the family. Kwabena bawled when it was time to go, but after all, I can barely keep my eyes open when driving from Hagerstown in the dark for 1.5 hours. It takes all of my effort to stay awake. An 8 p.m. departure time was definitely in order. And poor Kwabena cried, “Oh, man, I’m to miss the parade!!” He didn’t want to leave!
