Today was the day we officially moved in. I will admit that it felt a little uncomfortable to me, as well. I mean, you’re used to your old house…..You move to a temporary spot and get comfortable there….And then you’re once again moving and have to get comfortable somewhere else. I get it. It’s a bit awkward, especially when you’re really itching to get comfy-cozy.
But today, we took the plunge, and we’re moved in!!
Kwasi was not easy-going (surprise, surprise) and gave me a hard time about “what’s the rush?!” and how he was not going to “watch your kids while you do this [move in]” as if I was up to no good and was asking him to watch the kids while I go commit murder or something. Anyhow, I ended up taking Kwabena with me, and leaving Ohene, and it worked out nicely. Kwasi camped out in front of the TV, lounging on the blow-up bed, while I mopped floors and started unpacking a few boxes to make the rooms feel a bit “homey” and moved-in-to.
Thankfully, Kwasi and Ohene came later (with major ‘tude), but I ended up taking the kids back to Kwasi’s mom’s house to pick up the things he’d forgotten, like our comfortable, and the rest of the food we’d left there. I did feel a bit sad about leaving Kwasi’s mom, only because I know that she will miss the kids. It’s not like we are far away–only 15 minutes! LOL But, she’s used to the noise of us at night, I’m sure, and sleeping with Ohene. So I’m sure she will be a bit lonely tonight. Sorry, Mama Appiah! 🙁 But I’m sure she understands.
By the time I had come back home with the kids and the rest of our stuff, Kwasi was in a good mood, which was nice. He played around with the kids, and I moved the stuff in from the car. We had our first family dinner here tonight, too! It’s a wonder we found anything to eat, but we had a spaghetti dinner that was pretty tasty 🙂 I must say, though–we gotta get a real dining room table! This little glass bistro thing we all crowd around isn’t really working. LOL We don’t even have enough chairs!
So tonight, the kids went fast asleep, and Kwasi fell asleep in the family room shortly after. And I scrubbed the formal living room floor. LOL It took a good hour or so! There were stuck wallpaper pieces, and hardened glue, and dirt footprints, etc. So it took a while to get all that stuff off. But we can officially walk around in socks! WOOT!
Tomorrow the contractor is coming to start (and hopefully finish) the counter tops and sink. And we’ll be one step closer to being settled.
WHEW……
