“Oops” Note

September 21, 2011 By Serena Leave a Comment

Well, Kwabena came home with his first behavioral note. They call it an “Oops” note. I should have known something was up when I walked in the door and when he came to greet me, he had an expectant look on his face. Hard to explain, but it’s a face that I have seen times before, and it’s a face like, “I did something wrong, and I’m looking to you to see how you’re going to react.” When I greeted him and then checked his folder, there was the “Oops” note.

Supposedly, he wasn’t keeping his hands to himself. I am going to email his teacher and get more info. I tried to find out from him what was going on, but he wasn’t saying much. I think he was playing around, basically, and just touching other kids, maybe tickling them?? Or just putting his hands on other people, and he must have been told several times or something in order for him to come home with an “Oops” note.

His punishment?? I made him sit at the table and write 5 times, “I will keep my hands to myself.” Of course it took him about 45 minutes, LOL, because he’s slllooowwww when it comes to writing, but he got it done. I told him, “It’s boring writing the same thing over and over, isn’t it?? Well, you misbehave, then that’s what you will be coming home to do.” I’m also sending it to his teacher, to let her know that I am serious about any discipline problems.

As for his bus issues, he’s been imitating one of the kids on the bus (some friend named Todd), and they’ve been joking around, calling each other “Idiot” and things that Kwabena KNOWS he is not supposed to be saying. I don’t know if they’ve been playing around on the bus, but basically, he better straighten his ass out, or else he’s going to be doing a LOT of writing, and if necessary, ass whippings. I will not put up with those behavior problems, even though I’m not surprised. I totally expected these things, and I’m sure I will hear more of them. But we’ll just have to stay on top of them!
