Tonight while Kwabi and I settled down in his bed to go to sleep, he worriedly said to me, “Spiders coming for me.”
Poor thing!
We went to the National Zoo today in D.C. and one of the exhibits features spiders with huge webs WITHOUT plexi-glass….Yeah….Out in the open. As soon as Kwabi saw them, he whined and cringed in fear. Since when was he afraid of spiders??
I mean, he HAS made comments to me before at bedtime about spiders, but nothing that made me think he had a fear of them. So to hear him say that “spiders are coming for me,” well, my poor baby has a phobia!
I reassured him that the spiders are at the zoo, NOT here with us. He seemed to understand, but it took 3 reinforcements.
Oh, and today while at the zoo, during lunch, Kwabi choked on APPLESAUCE! Doesn’t seem likely that you could choke on applesauce, but if you can choke on water, you can choke on applesauce. I had just given him a bit of applesauce and then I did something funny that Kwabi laughed at as soon as the appleasauce went in. He start sputtering and spitting out the applesauce, and got very upset, nearly hysterical. Surprisingly, I was very calm. Probably because it was “only” applesauce. Thank God it wasn’t his burger or fries that he choked on!
I calmed him quickly, and by that time, he was done and ready to go look at animals.
