So today I am 18 weeks, 6 days along. Tomorrow I will be 19 weeks! I honestly can’t believe that. It’s really going fast. The best news is that MONDAY–yes, this Monday!!–is the big ultrasound and I will find out if this baby is a boy or a girl!
I don’t think anyone really reads this website, so I’m going to go ahead and divulge what I had promised Kwasi I wouldn’t tell anyone. Since no one reads this (but my dear Kwasi and myself), I’ll go ahead and spill the beans:
When we went for the 13 week ultrasound (i.e. first trimester screening), the perinatologist had come in to finish up the scan, and while he was completing his notes in the computer, making my next appointment, I was moaning, “UGH…..I have to wait until June 27th to find out the sex?!” And he said, “So you want to know?” I looked over and said, “What, boy??”
He shook his head!!!
I looked at him incredulously, “You mean GIRL?!”
He nodded and said, “I did NOT see a penis. I did look.”
Soooooo…….I kept grilling him about it, and he said, “Now, don’t go out and buy all pink stuff yet! I’m 60% sure.”
But he sounded more than 60% sure. Then again, maybe the penis was just hiding!
Kwasi didn’t want me to tell anyone, not until we knew for sure. So I’ve been walking around holding this secret inside! UGH!! So many times I wanted to tell Hakimah, and Morning, and definitely Mom, but I couldn’t spill the beans, because I had promised. I did tell my OB at my last appointment, but hey, she’s my dr. and she doesn’t count!
I figured since no one reads this, may as well post it here. I’ve been holding it in for weeks, and I can’t any longer, since the ultrasound is so close. I’m just proud of myself for not spilling the beans sooner. I’m known to be a big blabbermouth, so you know….. LOL
I think when I first found out I was pregnant, I tried to convince myself that this baby would be boy #3, because I didn’t want to start hoping for a girl, and then not get one. But after the dr. said he thought it was a girl, it was hard NOT to get excited and start hoping for a little girl. Going through the store, I see so many cute baby clothes, it’s impossible not to get excited at the prospects of being able to buy pink and purple, and to “doll” her up!
So now, it’s the final count-down! Just three days!
Tonight I checked my weight. Holy hell, I think I gained about 20 lbs so far!!!! I’m not kidding you!! I could be well on my way to 45 lbs perhaps. I really need to be sure that I am eating the right foods and not gorging on junk. I’ve been doing okay lately, since June 1st. And I need to just make sure that I am staying on point.
I haven’t been feeling too much movement; not the way I did with Kwabena or Ohene. But I do feel some movement in there, like a slight shifting motion. I’ve felt a few flutters here and there, too. I can’t wait until I feel more movements!
I’m really excited about being pregnant! It’s lovely having something to look forward to 🙂
