I’m really enjoying this time with my Henny-Poo! After one week of Kwasi and Kwabena gone, I have really become even closer with Ohene, because there’s not the same level of distraction now. Of course, I have cleaning and this and that to do, but in terms of having to “ignore” Ohene because of Kwabena needing attention, that’s not the case.
Today we had some nice time together while the new basement door was replaced. (UGH….$2,900!!) Anyhow, I tried to put him down for a nap twice today, but the cutie-butt thought I was a joke. He would get down off the bed (during one of the times I would let go of his leg, LOL) and run into the walk-in closet with a big smile on his face, saying, “Bye-bye!” and shut himself into the closet. Hilarious!!
At one point, I said to him, “Fine, Ohene, Mommy is going to sleep!” as he got down off the bed. He said, “Bye-bye!” as he ran out of the room and closed the door behind him. Too funny!
And tonight, I got him into bed later because he took a late nap, and as he was lying there, wide awake, and wanting to play with this spin toy thingy, I said to him, “Come on, Ohene, you need to close your eyes and go to sleep.” The silly boy squeezed his eyes shut and turned his head to the left, as if he was sleeping! Then he burst out laughing! OMG, too funny!! And soooo sweet.
He’s such a sweetheart! But what amazes me is his little personality and his little attitude, even at 19-months!! When you tell him to do something, or to stop doing something, or to let go of something, he finally gives in and gives a little “umph” type thing, as if he’s having the last word! For example, I’ll tell him to stop pushing the “CAPS” button on my computer, especially when I’m trying to type, and wouldn’t you know it, after a couple times of being told “no,” he will suddenly make this scrunched up face and do his hands really fast and quick on the keyboard, as if to say, “THERE, take THAT!” It’s actually pretty funny, but we better watch out for this one. He’s much more spicy in temperament than Kwabena was!
Anyhow, all is well here. I really appreciate Kwasi’s mom calling each day to see how we’re doing. I guess she realizes it can be pretty lonely here by ourselves. I think we’re adjusting, though, after one week. I can’t wait for them to get back, though.
I’m just glad that I’m focusing on getting “home” stuff done while they’re gone. I really want to surprise them with a “new” house when they get back, especially with getting these little projects done, and hopefully, getting rid of the yucky smell while they’re gone!
Well, it’s 2:30 a.m. Better head to bed! The new tenants in Hagerstown are moving in next weekend, so I’ve got to get the painting done tomorrow–just some spot painting, I think. At least, I hope so!
‘Night!
Here’s a pic of Ohene today in the yard, after the basement door installers left 🙂
