1 Hour

August 13, 2008 By Serena Leave a Comment

That’s about how much time I had with Kwabena today: 1 hour. Maybe even less. I didn’t get home until close to 9 p.m. because I was out looking at houses (read more about that here: http://www.decimationofprocrastination.blogspot.com) with our agent, Vanda.

I did call to talk to him prior to getting home, and to hear his sweet little voice on the phone (“Hi, Mommy!”) was so great.

Kwabi: “Hi, Mommy.”

Me: “Hi, baby! How are you doing?”

Kwabi: “I’m doing fine.”

Me: “Awww….that’s great, sweetie. Did you eat dinner?”

Kwabi: “Yes”

Me: “What did you eat?”

Kwabi: “Avocado.”

Me: “Good. I miss you, baby. Mommy will be home soon.”

Kwabi: “Miss you, Mommy.”

He amazes me how he can hold a conversation at 2 years old and not have to be prompted by anyone!

Another sign that my baby boy is growing up…..

So tonight when I got home, he was a bit fussy and broke down in tears when he saw me; I guess because he missed me. 🙁 I felt bad that we had so little time together tonight, but I considered it (i.e. my home search this evening) to be for his benefit and not just me galavanting around town. It’s still hard when you’re away from your child all day long.

We snuggled on his bed and read a Thomas book, and when he whimpered when it was time to turn off the light, I offered to read him one of his favorite, The Berenstein Bears Visit Farmer Ben. We’ve read it so many times over the past 2 weeks or so, I can leave off the last word of each sentence and he actually finishes the sentence!

Tonight he was so proud of himself, so he exclaimed, “I’m reading!” 🙂 How cute!

Tomorrow will be another long night as I meet with the financial lender guy, who will tell me what we can truly afford, based on some hard-core numbers.
