A Mother’s Comfort

November 12, 2008 By Serena Leave a Comment

Kwabi just started crying out in his sleep a few moments ago. I knew he must have had a dream or something, and wasn’t completely awake. After a minute, I went in and covered him up, and laid down with him, kissing his ear. Instantly, he stopped crying, and in his dreamy state, with eyes closed, reached his hand behind him, to feel me there, as if to say….is it really you, Mommy? Yes, it’s me, baby. And in that moment, I realized how monumental it is for my mere presence to soothe my child, even in a dreamy state of sleep. How magnificient!
