Each day that I talk with Kwabena is so miraculous…the things he says to me, the things he does…seeing his little personality emerging…It’s so cool!
Last night my bra strap had come unhooked underneath my shirt (the most annoying thing!!). When we pulled into the parking lot of Target and Adventist (for groceries), I pulled off my coat, attempting to re-connect the strap (I couldn’t). Kwabena had the nerve to tell me, “Put your coat back on, Mommy! They’re going to see your belly!” It was so funny! I wondered where he learned such modesty? LOL
After we had come out of Adventist, he insisted that we MUST go to Target (to look at toys), so I gave in. I told him, “Okay, let’s go put the water and bag in the car, then we can go to Target for 10 minutes.” He then said to me, “You need to calm down!” HILARIOUS!! Um….maybe that came from Daddy? Kwasi is incessantly telling me I need to calm down, in the same tone that Kwabena used. LOL. He’s like a little parrot!
Another thing Kwabena is doing lately is insisting that I call him “Kwabena” instead of “Kwabi.” I have no reason why he doesn’t like the name “Kwabi.” I think it’s cute, and is a great nickname (and also closely mirrors the name “Kwasi”). But he prefers “Kwabena” so I am doing my best to respect that. He is very quick to point out when I mess up: “Don’t call me Kwabi; call me Kwabena!” Even yesterday at daycare one of the parents called him “Kwabi”, and he turned to me, with a frown, and said, “He called me Kwabi.” So, KWABENA it is! I guess I better change the name of this blog, huh?
🙂
ETA: Oh! And the other night, I measured Kwabena’s hair. I couldn’t believe that it was 6 inches long! You can’t tell since it’s so curly. But I was shocked he’s got such long hair. When I found out that I was having a boy, I thought, “Yay! No “little-girl-hair” to do!” Little did I know that I was going to have a little boy with curly hair with hair 6-inches long. LOL
