Freaking Out

January 7, 2009 By Serena Leave a Comment

Kwabena’s new bed came!!

But I’m freaking out…a little bit. It’s a low-loft bed, with a 3-step ladder. He loved playing on the bed this evening. It took us (Kwasi!!!!!) a few hours to put together, but thankfully, we got it done before bedtime, and that’s where he’s sleeping tonight!!!! (Thanks, Daddy!!)

But I’m freaking out a little, because in this last week, he’s been waking up in the middle of the night and walking over to climb in our bed. I’m afraid that he will wake up and not remember he is in a new bed and fall down the stairs while trying to get out. UGH……. I so pray that doesn’t happen. I have put down his crib mattress in front of the stairs, as well as some blankets and pillows, and will keep doing that for awhile until he realizes that he’s in a new bed. I’m sitting here thinking of the worse-case scenarios and I am freaking! Maybe he’s too young for a bed that height? Low-loft or not, it’s still higher than a regular bed……..

Anyhow, tonight we laid under his bed, on his crib mattress, and read our usually Cars book. Then he wanted to go sleep up top. He wanted ME to come up with him, but of course, I am too big (LOL), so I just stood by his bed and stroked his hair and back, and told him a quick, soothing story of the “Three Little Pigs.” Then I made up an excuse to him so that I could get out of his room, and–what do you know!!–it worked! He was asleep within minutes.

Let’s just hope my little one is safe tonight in his new bed. I may just decide to have Kwasi remove the loft legs, until he can at least get comfortable and used to being in his bed, and THEN maybe add the loft legs………???

I went to check on him a little bit ago, and to my surpise, I found him knocked out, with his shirt up to his chin, and his hand down the front of his pants. SIGH…..what a little “man.”

I’ll post pics of Kwabena’s new room as soon as I can! In the meantime, here are some new pics from this weekend.

Enjoy!

Playing in the indoor sandbox at a birthday party:

Yeah….he’s got a lot of hair….No haircut yet!!

But with a little (okay…a lot!) of gel….it’s manageable! See, doesn’t look as big, doesn’t it? If you can believe it, his hair is 6 inches long already!!

Kwabena and me, before heading out to a birthday party:

Getting soooo big….I can’t believe he was once only as big as that bear!
