Kwabena didn’t fall out of his bed! WHOO HOO!
I plugged in the light ball that Mom had given to him, which provided sufficient light for him to see. And when he called out to me at 3 a.m., I quickly dashed to his room so that I could make sure he didn’t catapult out of his bed. To my relief, he climbed down the ladder the way I showed him (backwards, instead of forward-facing), and then proceeded to walk to our room and climb into our bed.
I expected him to quickly get back to sleep (as he has done previous nights this week), but can you believe he stayed awake from 3 a.m. until finally I let him get out of bed at 6 a.m.? He did everything from pretending his stuffed animal dog, Sam, was talking…to scratching his butt (and expecting ME to scratch his butt and his back, too, as well as to bring lotion to put on him)…to crying each time I sternly told him “no” when he wanted to get up to go get Lightening McQueen or Mac…or crying each time I pleaded desperated to “Go to sleep, Kwabena!” Each time he wailed out, with tears, “You hurt my feelings!” I must have hurt his feelings about a good 7 times this morning…
So anyhow, 6 a.m. approached, and I couldn’t lie down with him anymore. I eventually let him get up, and he went to play with his Thomas & Friends Roundhouse set. As I was about to leave for work, he was walking up the hallway and said, “I love you, Mommy.” Of course he melted my heart. And even though I was already late, I couldn’t help but kiss all over him and tell him I love him, too. I looked deep into his doe eyes and said, “I love you, Kwabena.”
Know what he said? He said, “Guess what?”
“What?” I said
“Poopie butt!”
LOL…..I had taught him how to say, “Guess what, chicken butt; know why, chicken thigh.” But he can’t remember that. So his own version is “Guess what, poopie butt.”
Too funny he decided to say it during my moment of professing my love for him.
What a silly kid. 🙂
