I knew he was close, but this weekend he proved he could do it. He rolled over from back to front this weekend, Friday, I believe. It’s hard to believe at this age Kwabena was up on all 4’s and crawling in only 1-2 more weeks (before age 6 months). It actually feels nice to just have a normal activity child. LOL! I don’t think I could deal with two Kwabenas. He’s so high energy, that he needs a calmer Ohene to bring down his energy level. I can’t wait to see how they interact as older kids.
Ohene is now 17.4 lbs! I checked Kwabena’s stats and he was the exact same size about (17 lbs 2 oz.) at 5 mo!
Ohene’s been reaching and grabbing things so smoothly lately. Seems like after I came back from my work trip to San Antonio, TX recently (May 4-7, 2010) that he was doing so much more. How is that possible? I wasn’t gone long! LOL. But now when something falls away from him, he’s leaning over for it, and reaching behind him. His favorite thing to reach for now is the wipes bag when he’s being changed. LOL I guess he likes the crinkly noise!
Kwabena is doing well. He shocked me yesterday when, while I was cooking dinner, he began putting away the groceries! What a big help he was! I think he actually enjoys it. I guess that will be his new chore. He’s at the age where he definitely needs some responsibility, so we can add this to his list.
The other day at Kwasi’s mom’s house, Nana (who’s home from Ghana until June 6th) was watching ESPN and they were showing this man who was born with no arms or legs, but was able to swim in this 2-mile marathon, and didn’t even come in last place!! Kwabena was amazed by him, and I used that man as an example of how when something seems too challenging for him, think about that man with no arms and legs and how he was able to overcome adversity and actually swim that distance. I hope it left a lasting impact on him.
So today I took a “sick day” to actually get some house cleaning and packing done. This weekend I was able to get some clean-up done, but, for such a small space we have, there’s still so much that needs to be done. I would like to paint the master bath today (neutral….sorry, pink, you’ve got to go!). And I need to pack up Kwabena’s room. So many toys that he doesn’t even play with.
What a chore moving is…….
