“Poopie Head!”

It’s true: Kwabena called me a “poopie head” this past weekend!

I did the best I could not to laugh, but it was hilarious! His daycare provider has warned me that he might say it at home, since a couple kids at daycare brought the word in, sparking all the kids to shout out gleefully “POOPIE HEAD!” while the daycare provider attempted to tell the kids it was a bad word. LOL (Now she just puts a child in time-out for saying it; thankfully Kwabi has gotten the message that it’s not acceptable vocabulary).

But this past weekend, he was sure to let me know I was a “poopie head.”

There he stood, in his classic “I’m pooping in my diaper” pose. So I asked him, “Kwabi, are you pooping?” I guess when kids get to this age and understand their bodily functions a little more, they can begin to feel shameful and want to hide when pooping. Kwabena definitely doesn’t like for me to “bother” him with questions about whether or not he’s pooping while he’s actually engaged in the act. He will give me this look:

…..and then tell me, “No, Mommy, that’s not nice!” But this weekend he decided to attach “Poopie head!” to the end of his exclamation. It took everything I had not to burst out laughing! 🙂

I attempted to tell him that it wasn’t a nice word and that it hurts Mommy if he calls me names.
I thought he understood…..until 10 seconds later he called Kwasi a “poopie head,” too.

We haven’t heard him say it again after that. But, oh, man, he’s so damn FUNNY!
