Sell This Home!

July 8, 2010 By Serena Leave a Comment

Our condo is supposed to be listed for sale either today, or tomorrow. I’m super excited about it! This has been a long-time coming. And I tell you, it hasn’t been easy. Now is the right now, though; I don’t think I would have had it in me to do it before, without Kwasi’s support. He’s been supporting verbally, on the same page. But I’ve done all the work, just about. He’s supplying the money and much of the down payment, and I am doing the hard, manual labor of getting this place together.

Keeping it clean and in “stage mode” is going to be tough. A coworker tried to tell me about her 2-week long staging nightmare….having to wake up at 5 a.m. to stage the house daily….UGH. However, I think now that we’ve got most of our belongings and clutter we don’t use placed in boxes in the storage area, it shouldn’t be that hard to do a quick sweep and clean up before potential buyers come.

So there are still some things I need to do around here: touch-up painting, get some pictures to hang in Kwabena’s room, tidy up the walk-in closet, clean out Kwabena’s closet…And now that I’m sitting here thinking about it, I think there isn’t too much more I have to do!

Tonight I stopped by Pier 1 and found these really nice lamps that look fantastic in the bedroom. I hated spending $55 for each of them, but this is the first lamp I have come across since searching for nice bedroom lamps that I really loved. I just wish it had been on sale like all the other ones I have seen on their website and in their store! Anyhow, it’s very cute, and looks stunning in our bedroom:

Vanda, our agent, recommended taking down the apartment-style mirrors in our bathrooms. I thought it was just an extra step I really didn’t need to do, but after completing the assignment, boy am I glad we did! What an amazing difference! And that Home Goods store was amazingly affordable. I found the perfect mirror for the master bath!

BEFORE: Apartment-style mirror:

AFTER: Framed mirror, only $60:

Just imagine the next owner’s surprise when and if he/she ever needs to take this mirror down….This is the message they are going to find behind the mirror, signed with all of our names! LOL

Here’s the hallway bath, after removing the same apartment-style mirror:

AFTER: Painted, with dark framed mirror. I didn’t like the dark in the bathroom, so we spray painted it sliver.

We still need to re-spray it silver, and do a textured effect, because the plastic sheeting it was sitting on got blown onto the wet spray paint and now we HAVE to be creative!

Kwabena’s room, de-cluttered!

Master Bedroom…notice the new lamps!!

Wish us luck with a quick sale near listing price!
