Having Camryn, my 5-year-old niece, here for the weekend (my sis had no sitter), really has given me some insight into what it will be like to be a mom of 2, with 3 years between. I’ve always said that having my kids 3 years apart would be perfect, and seeing Camryn and Kwabi play together has definitely confirmed it.
The best part of taking care of a 5 year old is the interactions that you can have….the conversations……..being potty-trained!!……able to totally dress themselves……able to wash themselves (under supervision, of course). So, even though I was caring for 2 kids this weekend, because Camryn is 5, today wasn’t difficult!
Of course, having a newborn and a 3 year old may be a different story. But I’m loving the “5 year old and 2 year old” thing….. LOL
We had a fun day! We went to Chuck E. Cheese and had pizza and played games. Then I took them to the thrift store to sift through the toy aisles (OMG, you’d think I had taken them to FAO Schwartz the way they were “ooohing” and “aaahhing”!) LOL We walked out of there with an arm-full of $0.49 books! What a steal!
Tonight I read “Little Bill” to Kwabi and Camryn, and Kwabi kept popping up into Camryn’s face, saying, “Hi!!!!” Then they would both burst out laughing! It was soooo cute. 🙂 I could only imagine my own 2 kids in their room at night, sharing laughs and enjoying each other’s company.
Someday……
😉
