Taste of Bethesda

October 3, 2010 By Serena Leave a Comment

This weekend (well, Saturday) was so much fun! This was the 3rd week of soccer on Saturday mornings, so we trucked over to Potomac for soccer. I have to admit that I am so pleased the way Kwabena participates. When he was younger, it was so difficult to have him even listen or take part in a group. And there I was, the parent standing off to the side, wondering if my son was “okay.” Now I realize that it was his age, mostly, because now, he listens and participates, and is, for the most part, able to focus his attention on what the coaches are saying.

This Saturday they did some soccer exercises, and then divided up the big kids and the little girls (and the girls) and had them play a game, like they do each week (the first week they did this; the 2nd week Kwabena wasn’t feeling good so we left early, which was a shame, because Kwasi was actually there with us; and this past week, they played). Kwabena did really good! Well, minus the times when he got confused and tried to kick it in the wrong direction, or was kicking it out of bounds, clueless that he needed to turn around. Oh– and the time when he found some other ball lying near the playing field and he started kicking THAT in the out of bounds space, in his own little game. LOL But he did score a goal during the game! He was so proud of himself. And during the whole game, he was saying to the coach, “Hey! *I* want to win!” LOL

Anyhow, we had a good time. Kwabena says he loves soccer 🙂

As usual, we headed to Georgetown Cupcake, in Bethesda, which has become our Saturday morning ritual after soccer. They are very expensive ($15 for a 6), but they are super yummy, especially the peanut butter fudge! So after we ate our cupcakes, we came across a cool car show on Wisconsin Ave. We decided to stop and go in and wouldn’t you know they had SOOO many cars there! It was a lot of fun. I saw cars I had never seen before.

Then we went to the Taste of Bethesda and had some tasty samples.

It was a good day! 🙂
