The Trauma of Childbirth

December 20, 2009 By Serena Leave a Comment

Okay, I seem to have THE easiest pregnancies ever…..NO morning sickness….NO nausea or vomiting whatsoever….NO heartburn….NO major uncomfortableness….NO trouble sleeping….Really easy, if you ask me.

But why is it that I always suffer the brutality to my vagina?!?!

With Kwabena, I suffered a 4th degree tear. Wasn’t painful, nor was the recovery too painful. But there were some minor lasting effects. This time, thank God, there were no “degree” tears into the perineal area, but I still suffered some superficial tears along the inside labia, which led to massive swelling. Five days later, the swelling is going down, but the stitches have come undone (which is normal), and now there is a gaping hole in my right labia! OUCH! The good news is that it should be something that heals naturally, with no lasting effects, hopefully.

Okay, may be TMI for this forum, but considering that I only have–oh, three readers or less???–I guess it doesn’t really matter. It’s just the easier forum for me to journal, and whoever reads it, reads it.

Sitting is uncomfortable. I wish I could just sit on a pillow all day, or lie down all day, and let nature work its healing miracles.

So although pregnancy (and even labor!) is easy as pie for me, actually getting those babies out is quite traumatic to my nether regions.

Hmmm….I wonder what would happen to my hoo-hoo if I deliver a 3rd baby?!
