I’ve been terrible about updating my life here on this blog. So much as been going on. The most important is that we are under contract!!! A girl named Tabitha is buying our condo. Today was the inspection, which we should get the report back, hopefully, tomorrow. I overslept a bit today, so I was rushing around trying to get the last minute stuff done, like carpets cleaned in the bedrooms (didn’t take long), and stuff put away. I wanted this house to look as excellent as possible so that she walks in and is like, “Yes!! This is the place I am buying! I am so excited!!”
I’m not going to lie–I will be crossing my fingers everything works out until we go to closing. Once we’re at the table, signing away, I will be crossing my fingers all goes well. We sold for $195,000, which is a bit less than what I had hoped. Plus, we’re giving her $6,200 towards closing. I really wanted to walk away with $10,000, but walking away with what you want and what you can GET are two different things. I’m glad we got under contract when we did, because some knucklehead in the development just dropped their unit’s listing price from $199,500 (original listing price) to $184,500 (after I dropped mine to $195,000, and then just yesterday, dropped it to the $160’s! I was like, “What!!!!” I was hoping it doesn’t sabotage MY contract with this girl. I am only going to think positively. All will be well and will go over without a hitch 🙂
So our closing is November 13th! We will be homeless then! LOL We’ll stay with Kwasi’s mom for a couple days or so. We have since found a house we like. Well, it’s a long story. I actually found this house that I loved: 1721 Colesberg St, Silver Spring, MD 20905.

I went to see it last weekend for an Open House, and fell in love with it. Particularly the backyard and the garage-turned-studio below!
The owner (original owner) is an artist and had converted the garage into a studio, with light streaming in. It’s such a happy place…..I really love this place. But Kwasi said it would be too small, and that we would outgrow it before several years. Yes, the bedrooms are small, but the house is 2,100 sq ft, bigger than what we have now, great schools, great outdoor space, nice neighborhood, etc. etc. But the house below is the one Kwasi fell in love with and got excited about. We had first seen it when it was dark outside. And considering that it’s located at the end of a dead end, with trees all around…..Well, it was SPOOKY to me! I thought I had Kwasi on board with the Colesberg house, but when we saw this house again the other night, he was sold on this one.
The past couple days we conflicted about it, obsessively. Back and forth. It just didn’t feel right to me. Didn’t feel like home. Felt that it was out of our grasp, too expensive to maintain, etc. I mean, I still feel it will be more expensive all around than Colesberg. But I think the reclusiveness of it, and the little stream in the back (with the foot bridge that Kwabena likes to stand on and throw rocks into the stream), will feel like our private retreat nestled in Silver Spring. I like it now.
So we’ve since written a contract for it, for $418,000, with 2% closing help. We’ve gotten word that someone else has also written and submitted a contract for it. I can only hope that we’ve got the better offer. Wish us luck! We should hear something tomorrow or Friday, at the very latest, I would imagine.
And although I am on board with this house, Kwasi did tell me that if we didn’t get 14403 Marine Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20905, then we can go for Colesberg, if it’s still available. I would be okay with that, too! 🙂 I love that studio!!!!

Anyhow, Marine Drive has 4 bedrooms, a beautiful kitchen, tons of rooms (God, more space to clean!!), and a downstairs basement/play area for the kids’ toys.
