Bark Obama

January 29, 2009 By Serena Leave a Comment

Man….quite amazing the effect that Barack Obama’s political campaign had, even on a 2 year old!

Kwabena saw this picture on someone’s Facebook this evening, and said, “That’s Barack Obama’s doggie!” and he got a total KICK out of it! LOL. Funny how he instantly recognized this iconic image, regardless of what the actual image was. WOW.

Anyhow, last night was so much fun! We have had NO measurable snow–until yesterday! I got home from work a bit early. I arrived to find a very grumpy Kwasi, and a very “I-only-want-to-play-with-my-choo-choo-trains” Kwabena. But, luckily, we were able to venture outside. I was bundled in four layers, boots with thick wool socks, and a hat. Kwabena and Kwasi had on equal numbers of layers, as well.

The second we hit the our doors, guess who started grabbing snow by the handfuls and shoving it into his mouth, like he was ravenous? LOL. Technically, it’s not his first snow–the first snow was 2007, I believe! But he was too young to even know what a snowflake was. This year, however, he was so excited!

Kwasi wanted me to get a sled from Target on my way home from work, but considering that I’m on a whole new financial, thrifty kick (read more about it here), I didn’t want to waste the money (also considering that we rarely even get snow!)

So that night Kwasi found an old cardboard box next to the recycling boxes in our complex. And we walked over to “the” hill that Kwasi’s been talking about taking Kwabena sledding on since Kwabena was probably–what?–6 months old?? LOL! Kwasi went down the hill first. Then some guy and his 6 year old son (that lived in the neighborhood) was walking past and wanted to give our ‘ole “sled” a go. And then I tried it (yes, fun!). And if you can believe it, Kwasi took Kwabena down!

We had the best time! By the time we were done, Kwasi was in a good mood….I was in the a good mood….and Kwabena had a full belly (LOL!!!)

Kwabena’s “dinner”…..He couldn’t shovel the snow in fast enough!!
