Lots of Updates!

Baby Movement

Tonight Kwasi felt the baby move for the first time! I am 22 weeks and 2 days along. I was lying in Kwabena’s bed, reading him a story, and the baby tends to be bouncing around a lot during that time. Sure enough, Kwabena felt him move (this is the second time he’s felt him), and we called Kwasi over and he felt it too! 🙂 Exciting! Since the placenta is anterior this time around, it’s been later in feeling strong movements. Awwwww…..

Kwabena was lying there with my with his hand on my belly and said to me, “Open your mouth, Mommy.” I thought he was just going to look at my teeth or something, but wouldn’t you know it–he said, “Hello, baby!!” as if yelling into my mouth would somehow travel down to my belly. Hilarious!!

Ultrasound!

Today I had an ultrasound. I love those things! This is the first time that I am considered “normal” in that I won’t need repeat ultrasounds. So I don’t go back until 32 weeks, which is 10 weeks from now. I’m sure that will go fast! He measured 1 lb, 3 oz. Awwwww…..sweet baby! I think he looks like Kwabena in the bridge of his nose area, and then the nose sort of looks like Ohene. I’m not sure about the lips. I don’t think they are as full as Kwabena’s, though. And his color! What color will he be? I can’t wait to see what he looks like! 🙂

I weighed myself today and I was 184.3, I believe. Wow……I’ve gained 25 lbs. Can you believe it?? I am starting to feel a bit huge, depending on what I wear. I went for a walk last week at work, only 2.5 miles, and felt so bulky! I’ve got chunks of fat around my back and middle. Grrrrr…….But, I know full well that I will get it off soon after delivery, so I am not too worried or concerned (yet!).

Ghana

Kwasi and Kwabena leave in 4 days for Ghana!!! 🙁 **sob, sob*** I am going to miss them tremendously. I can only hope Kwasi takes good care of Kwabena. Bring him back healthy and happy. And I hope they have a good time! And when they get back, after 4 weeks, it’s going to be just one week before he starts school!! I honestly can’t believe it. Am I prepared for this?! 🙂 I can only hope he does a good job listening at school and uses his smarts, instead of getting side-tracked by other kids. I’m sure he’ll do fine!

Ohene

He’s the cutest little thing! So handsome and beautiful, and so different from Kwabena in many ways. Particularly, how he likes to help clean….how calm he is…..how he is more aggressive and whiny, but also more loving and “huggy” and sensitive than Kwabena was. It’s just so cool seeing how alike and different they are. I’m not even sure what the “alike” things are! They don’t even look alike! LOL

Kwasi

He’s doing well–walking daily, and trying to lose weight. He is really nervous about going to Ghana for a whole month with Kwabena. I can understand why! Just being responsible for him in such a way will be a whole new experience for him. But I think it’s going to be a great experience for them, and even for me and Ohene, who will be here bonding, as well 🙂

Kwabi-isms

  1. SCENE: Building LEGOS with the boys this past weekend…..Ohene loses pieces of Kwabena’s LEGO airplane, and Kwabena is upset…..15 minutes later, as we continued building a castle, Kwabena said: “I’m trying to forget about the plane.” I asked why, and he said, “Because I know you don’t like people whining.” LOL!!
  2. Tonight Kwasi and I were cutting down branches of our 2 large maples in the backyard, that blocks out the light in the house during the spring and summer. The kids were playing in the backyard. I came in to get the ladder, and Kwabena followed me. He said, “All this work?? Just so you can do your “sun” thing??” So funny!! He’s been hearing me complain about not having enough sunlight in the house, so to hear him QUESTION “all this work,” I just couldn’t believe he was implying I was being petty. LOL!!
  3. Kwabena told Miss Marilyn to look me up on Facebook so that she can see his summer pictures of Ghana! HAHAHA What a brilliant idea 🙂
  4. One day at dinner, I was saying how I didn’t sabotage my dinner. Kwabena said he didn’t sabotage his, either. I said, “Kwabena, do you even know what that word means?” He responded, “Yes. Ruin.” Um……..wow….I was shocked!!
  5. In case I didn’t document it, for his 4-year check-up, Kwabena was 48″ tall and 49 lbs! WOW! Huge boy! He’s literally the size of a 7 year old!
  6. I was asking Kwabena last week why he was up crying a lot, and saying how he hasn’t done that in a long time. I asked if he had nightmares or something. His reply?? “I just tend to be like that sometimes.” LOL
  7. A couple weeks ago we were at Target and I said to Kwabena, “Wow, I like this dress. Do you like it, Kwabena?” And he said, “I kinda don’t like that style for you.” Well, exxxccccuuuse me. LOL

Other “ISMs”

  1. On June 2, 2011, at almost 16 weeks along, I am pretty sure I felt baby movement! I think it must have been some sort of rolling sensation.

Ohene-isms

  1. The other day he hit Kwasi with this stick, and I told him that he hurt Daddy, and how Daddy is hurt, etc. etc., and Kwabena walked over and hugged Kwasi and said, “Sorry” in his beautiful baby voice. Awww…….! What shocked me is that I didn’t even have to TELL him to apologize–he just did it on his own

Off to bed! I can’t keep my eyes open!!!
