Newfound Freedom

November 13, 2010 By Serena Leave a Comment

Yep, little Henny-Poo is officially walking!! Since Sunday, when he discovered that he could walk to where he needed to be instead of crawling, he’s been walking everywhere! He can even turn himself around 180 degrees, without falling, and head in the direction he wants to go to! I love it. 🙂 So cute.

Yesterday I noticed him doing something I had never seem him do before: shake his head “no”! Amazing! Tonight I was telling him to not play with trying to close the door (he could get his fingers caught!), and when I tried to pull him away, he was whining, and shaking his head “no!” like he knew he was saying, “No, Mommy, I’m not going!” I couldn’t believe it! According to Miss Marilyn, he’s shaking his head no and yes when she’s asking him questions. What???!!!!

Love that kid…. 🙂

Kwabena is doing very well. He’s been having great behavior at daycare, and he’s been doing his schoolwork with no problems. Remember his problem (not so recent) with holding his pencils and stuff? Not a problem anymore. He holds it properly! 🙂 Oh, and in case I didn’t mention it, he’s going on 3-4 weeks now without a night-time pull-up! It’s funny, because he was one of the first kids trained in my mom’s group. I began training him at 26 months. But he’s one of the last ones to be night trained. Interesting 🙂

The other day he said to me (last weekend) when me, him, and Ohene were in my bedroom, “Mommy, pay some attention to ME.” I felt bad about that. Ohene was particularly clingy that weekend, and so every time I even tried to leave the room, he would cry and follow after me. Babies just require more attention. I have tried to explain that to Kwabena. But who knows how much he understands. I just don’t want him to feel neglected. He has said he likes when he gets to go with me and do stuff, like to Target, with just us. I think we need to have more times when it’s just me and him. But I also need to do that with Ohene, too.

How do Mom’s have three kids?? Four kids?? I guess the later kids are the ones that feel the brunt of lack of attention. The subsequent kids know no different, and at least have their siblings to play with them. But first borns….Oh, man, especially if they are old enough to realize, get the shit end of the stick when it comes to attention!

Well, not too much else going on. Today I bought this satchel that I have had my eye on for ages:

It was always out of stock, but just came back in stock recently, so I wanted to snag one. I showed the pic to Kwasi tonight and he wasn’t impressed. He said he wants me to buy a “feminine bag.” I guess this one looks too “manly.” Whatever. This bad is to haul my shit with me to work, that’s what! Not like I would be going out to the club partying with this bag. LOL

Anyhow, crossing all fingers and toes that we get through closing this week, and that we get to closing on our new house on Nov. 30th!!!
