It’s so funny….Last time, with Kwabena, we never even told anyone that we were delivering. We just packed up our stuff, and headed to the hospital after 14 hours of contractions at home. We didn’t tell anyone until we were already checked in. Hell, even Kwasi’s mom didn’t find out until Kwabena was already born!!
Today, we’ve told Kwasi’s mom, of course, since she’s part of the plan to keep Kwabena while we’re at the hospital….And I called Mom to let her know that I am at least having contractions….And Nana just called from Ghana to see if there were any updates…Oh, and I got a call from work from a few coworkers, calling to check my status. It’s hilarious! Everyone is anxiously awaiting your arrival, Ohene, and you’re just up there chillin’.
This morning I dropped Kwabena off at Miss Marilyn’s. I am hoping he has a good time. He really didn’t want to go until I pointed out how he can show off his new coat, and his cool little Spiderman umbrella that Mom had bought him last Christmas (that we’re just now pulling out to use). Then he was on board with it. But when we got there, I noticed he was a little more touchy. Miss Marilyn told me, also, on Friday she had a talk with him about how much we love him, etc. He did tell her that he didn’t want to be there, that he wanted to be home with me and the baby. I’m hoping it won’t be too hard on him when we have to go to the hospital and leave him with Nana Ba for 2 days. He’ll see Kwasi off and on during that time, but still–Mommy will be gone, having the baby. I want him to feel like I am not abandoning him, you know?
Anyhow, off to Rockville to install the spare car seat in Kwasi’s mom’s car, JUST in case we’re not able to pick him up from daycare this afternoon.
