Cloth diapers can be so much more interesting, too–the colors, the textures, the personality….
Let’s talk about how interesting cloth diapers can be…..
So the other day, I decided to put a cloth diaper on Kwabena instead of wasting a disposible when I knew he was going to get a bath shortly anyhow. I put on a cute, black cloth diaper that I had made last year. Check it out:

It uses Velco instead of the snaps that I usually make my diapers with. I put it on underneath his jean shorts, thinking that it would only be a short period of time before he gets his bath, so the diaper should be okay.
WRONG!
Next thing I know, Kwabi is hiding behind us as we sat on the chair, taking a poop, and when I looked on the floor, poop as mushy as soft-serve ice cream was all over the floor…..running down his leg….ALL over his pants….
The diaper’s Velco had come undone! OH NO!
I rushed Kwabena to the bathroom and tried to get him in the tub to remove his clothing. He fought me, screaming and crying–I’m not sure if it was because he was upset about all the poop that coated his legs and toes…if he was scared of the fact that Mommy was screaming and laughing at the same time….or if he just didn’t want to be placed in the tub.
Poop was smeared all over the tub…chunks of it lying in the drain….
Kwasi diligently cleaned the carpet, all the while bitching at me for using cloth instead of disposibles. LOL (It wasn’t the cloth–it was the VELCO!)
Anyhow, luckily, we got him all rinsed off, then scrubbed out the tub, rinsed out his poopy diaper and shorts, and gave him a nice, warm bath.
Yet another fun story to tell him when he’s 16…..
