Their Room is Done!

October 3, 2011 By Serena Leave a Comment

The boys’ room is done! Well, there wasn’t much I had to do, but I have to put Ohene’s bed together this weekend, and then figure out a set-up that would work. I like this set-up! I like that the bookcase goes well next to Ohene’s bed 🙂

Things were good this weekend, for the most part, but I think someone casted a “deaf” spell over Kwabena, then lit a fire under his butt, because he was on the go, go, go alllllll day yesterday, and wouldn’t listen for nothing! I had to physically smack him 3 times (unheard of from me!) and I had to eventually put in him in his bed earlier than normal, without the proper tucking in (i.e. no teeth brushing, no story, no hug, NOTHING), and just walk out. After 1 minute of crying he went straight to sleep. SIGH…..

I think the problem is that I was spending all day getting their room together that there was no time to spend actual QUALITY time with them 🙁 So, he had all that pent up energy, plus wanting to spend quality time with me and Ohene, that he just went wild. So frustrating!!!
But it made me realize, I need a frickin’ MAID!!! At the dinner table last night, I was saying to everyone, “OMG, I think I need a maid, like twice a week, so that I can do some other things that I find more enjoyable.” Kwabena piped in so innocently, “Like play with your kids?” Yes, sweetie…..like play with my kids 🙁

Sometimes it’s overwhelming the shit I have to do around the house– clean up after everyone….sweep the floors…..clean the bathrooms…..pick up toys….not including the projects I have and am currently doing, to help decorate the house and get it to where we need it to be….It’s too much! And I know, with Kojo coming, there is no way I will be able to maintain it all. At some point, I’ll have to get used to being in a dirty, cluttered home. Well, it’s not cluttered, per se, but I mean like stuff all over the kitchen counters, toys strewn everywhere, etc.

I need a housekeeper, badly!! I really may start to think about it and see if we’d be able to afford one……Or, at least, come up with a method of getting it all done without having to spend a whole day doing it.
